Bozeman Surgeon Dan Gannon, MD, Joins International Total Knee Replacement Training Faculty

Last year, Dan Gannon, MD, Bridger Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, traveled to Rome, Italy, to lecture at an international symposium on the Depuy Tri-Lock hip stem he helped develop for hip replacement surgery. He’s traveled extensively again in 2011. But this time, instead of hips, he’s giving talks on total knee replacement.

He was one of 15 international faculty who presented to 250 international surgeons in Annecy, France and to 300 European surgeons in Madrid. After he trained three orthopedic surgeons at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Dr. Gannon followed them to Boston where the Belgians joined a group of 40 international surgeons for training. There they attended lectures that Dr. Gannon, two Harvard School of Medicine faculty members and an engineer from Belgium each presented.

In addition to concentrating on hip replacement surgery and teaching surgeons who visit from around the country, Dr. Gannon and new partner Martin Gelbke, MD, perform total knee replacement surgeries at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

Bozeman Deaconess earned Blue Distinction Center recognition by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana for knee and hip replacement surgery. HealthGrades, an independent source of physician ratings and hospital quality ratings, has designated Bozeman Deaconess Hospital as a recipient of a 2012 Joint Replacement Excellence Award, ranking among the top 10% in the nation.
